Guidelines for Authors

Manuscripts submitted for publication in the scientific journal “Mechanics and Mathematical Methods” must be submitted electronically. The journal accepts submissions in English or Ukrainian, though preference is given to English-language publications to ensure broader international visibility.

Submission Process

  • Email for Submissions: Manuscripts should be sent to mmm@odaba.edu.ua.
  • Manuscript Volume: The recommended length is 8–20 pages. This limit includes the main text, tables, figures, and the list of references.

Publication Fees

The publication fee for an article is 1100 UAH.

Payment details:

Center NTMT for AB, code 21028281,

Account No. UA 103204780000026009924861812

at PJSC JSB “Ukrgasbank”.

Payment Notice

Purpose of payment: “Mechanics and Mathematical Methods, [Full Name of the First Author]”.

Timing:

Payment must be made only after the manuscript has been officially accepted for publication by the editorial board.

Exemptions:

Applicants of the third level of higher education (PhD candidates) are exempt from any payment (fees) for the processing, reviewing, and/or publication of articles, provided the work is performed by them individually (without co-authors).

Manuscript Structure

To comply with the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and international indexing standards, the article must be organized into the following sections:

  1. Introduction.
  2. Analysis of Literature Sources and Problem Statement.
  3. Aim and Objectives.
  4. Research Results.
  5. Discussion.
  6. Conclusions.
  7. Acknowledgements (optional).
  8. Ethical Declarations.
  9. References.

The manuscript must be prepared in Microsoft Word format (*.docx) in either Ukrainian or English. To ensure consistency, authors must use the official journal template and apply the following pre-defined styles:

  • UDC – style UDK
  • Article title – style TITLE
  • Author(s) Full Names – style Name Affilation
  • Affiliation (Organization, Dept, Degree) – style Title Affilation
  • Abstract – style Abstract Text
  • Keywords – style Keywords
  • Sections and Subsection Titles – style Heading SECTION
  • Main Body Text – style Journal 2
  • Table Titles – style Table
  • Figures and Diagrams – style Picture
  • References Section Header – style References title

General Placement

  • Line Spacing: Single spacing must be used throughout the manuscript.
  • Object Placement: All tables, graphs, drawings, figures, and formulas must be placed strictly in separate paragraphs within the text. Do not wrap text around these objects.

Mathematical formulas:

  • Equation Editor: All complex mathematical formulas must be created using the MathType equation editor with standard settings.
  • Numbering: Only formulas explicitly referenced in the text should be numbered. Numbering must be continuous throughout the article: (1), (2), (3), etc.
  • Explanations: A list of variable definitions must follow each formula, beginning with the word “where…”.
  • Spacing: A spacing of 6 pt must be applied both before and after formula block.

Simple Formulas and Notation

Where possible, simple formulas should be integrated directly into the text line. In such cases:

  • Use a slash (/) instead of a horizontal line;
  • Use the notation Exp(x) instead of the exponential symbol;
  • Use standard subscript and superscript formatting for indices and powers.

Attention to Detail

To ensure the scientific accuracy and visual consistency of the journal, authors must strictly follow these formatting rules for mathematical notation:

  • Cyrillic symbols (in formulas and explanations) must be in regular (upright) font;
  • Latin symbols must be in italic font;
  • Indices (subscripts and superscripts) must always be in regular (upright) font, regardless of whether they are Latin or Cyrillic.

To ensure the professional layout of the journal, authors must adhere to the following rule for positioning equations:

  • Tabulation Rule: Indentation from the left margin to the formula, and from the formula to the formula number, must be done using the TAB key;
  • Prohibition of Spaces: Using the spacebar to align or center formulas is strictly prohibited. Manual spacing causes formulas to “shift” or disappear during the conversion to the final printing format.

In the notation, a combination of standard font (Times New Roman) and symbol characters (Symbol font) should be used.

The formatting of formulas is illustrated in the article template.

Graphs for the article should be prepared using software such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Graph, Grapher, etc. The numerical data for the curves must be provided as separate files (*.xlsx or *.txt). All axes must include scale and labels.

Graphic files of figures (.jpg) must be submitted as separate files with a resolution of at least 600 dpi. If the figures contain textual elements, these must be provided separately in a Microsoft Word file (.docx).

Figures in Microsoft Word are permitted only as embedded objects. All letter and numerical designations used in the figures must be explained in the main text, usually in close proximity to the corresponding figure. Figure captions should begin with the abbreviation “Fig.” Followed by the figure number and title; the caption should be placed below the figure. When referencing to Figure 1 in the text, use the format “Fig.1”. Figures should be center-aligned within the paragraph.

The figure and its caption should be placed inside a table, after which the table borders should be removed.

Tables are considered part of the main text and should not be submitted as graphical objects. Tables should have concise headings, and the units of measurement for all presented quantities must be indicated. Empty cells in the table are not permitted. When creating tables, follow the example provided in the article template.

References

AUTOMATIC NUMBERING OF THE REFERENCE LIST IS NOT PERMITTED.

The heading “References” should be centered and set in bold. Authors are requested to provide active DOI identifier for all sources where available. The reference list should be arranged in the order of citation in the text, in accordance with DSTU 8302:2015, and presented as a single column. The use of the alternative headings such as “Sources of Information” or “List of Literature” is not allowed.

The reference list must include entries in the original language as well as their transliterated versions. The total number of references should be at least 10, of which at least 5 must have been published not earlier than 2000. Particular attention should be given to recent English-language publications, especially those indexed in Web of Science (WoS) and/or Scopus.

For the reproduction of Ukrainian proper names in English, transliteration should be used. Names of organizations and institutions that are not translated into English should also be transliterated. The transliteration of authors' surnames must follow the rules established by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine №55 of January 27, 2010, “On the Regulation of Transliteration of the Ukrainian Alphabet in Latin Script”, taking into account the language of the original source. The reference list must be formatted in accordance with the international bibliographic standard APA (6th edition).
